In the Dominican Republic there are several renowned fishing clubs, among them is the Cabeza de Toro yacht club where international deep-sea fishing competitions are held. Deep-sea fishing is the one that takes place in maritime waters far from the coast. Although the term usually refers to a type of industrial fishing, deep-sea fishing is also used to refer to sport fishing at a great distance from the coast for species such as tuna or marlin, and to hauling or trolling.
